“History is recorded in palimpsests, in which one culture overlays another to suppress what came before, yet traces of the original remain. In the examples shown in this exhibition, the local Council’s graffiti erasure method is expedient; the targeted area remains visible, cancelled rather than concealed. Mismatched paint patches with visible facture replace one image with another that in turn generates a third entity for the viewer that resembles abstraction.
