“History is recorded in palimpsests, in which one culture overlays another to suppress what came before, yet traces of the original remain. In the examples shown in this exhibition, the local Council’s erasure methods are pragmatic and visible. In the process of concealing the original, the mismatched paint patches don’t simply replace one image with another but create a facture, a textured record of making, that generates a third entity.
