13 x 8 cm Kodak prints rubbed and scratched with thinners and/or lighter fluid, with Letraset text, or other stick-ons added to the photograph. These were produced as ideas for silkscreen prints or paintings; however, I did not proceed. It was a difficult time for me. The prior decade was vexing; I had not at that time committed to making art as a full-time occupation and found myself often dissolute and in and out of employment. I had walked out of a teaching degree in the final semester, worked with a psychiatrist at Goulbourn maximum security gaol one day a week for two years teaching English and administering Thematic Apperception Tests and spent three years in the Gulf of Carpentaria working in various roles in the fishing industry. To be blunt, my view of humanity was discouraging.
