Free Movies 1978

Free Movies 1978, A self-generating sound and film installation using five Super8 projectors and five reel-to-reel tape recorders. The machines play ten continuous loops: five loops of found film and five loops of found audio recordings, a microphone recorded the room sound captured using tape delay for playback. On a near-by wall the film projectors create five postcard-sized rectangles of light showing scratched and clear film with occasional blocks of colour in repetition. In addition to recorded and live sound the clicks and scrapes of the tape and film loops could be heard intermingling with the mix.
